Events - Information for Visiting Model Engineers

We welcome guests with locos or traction engines or stationary engines on our Public Running Days, which are the 2nd Sunday of every month (see Timetables for dates). But please note that we have a limited capacity for freight trains on Public days - if you are not pulling passengers please check with us beforehand.

Diesel Day - D-Day 2012

Next Diesel Day at Galston is Saturday 28th July 2012 (a week later than usual to avoid clashing with our Playday / Boiler Inspector day) Diesel & electric outline locomotives only. Details (02) 9635-7509. BYO lunch - morning and afternoon tea provided. Please note our track rules, and in particular that we still maintain a minimum age of 9 years for operators (persons 9-17 years inclusive must be under the direct supervision of a competent adult at all times). Members of other AALS affiliated clubs are welcome. Sorry - no public admission.

October Birthday Weekend

In October we celebrate our Birthday on the Friday and Saturday before our October Public day. See dates below for our next birthday weekend. Visitors who wish to stay on and assist us convey passengers around our site on the Sunday are most welcome. Limited facilities for camping and cooking exist. There is a motel and caravan park at Dural which is within 10 mins drive of the club - contact us for details. On that weekend ...

• We welcome all visiting Model Engineers
• We usually have visitors from many clubs, bringing many interesting locos, traction engines and stationary models.
• Running is possible all day on Friday and Saturday, with a night run both days (to around 10 pm) if you wish.
• Our site is locked overnight, and some members stay all night.
• Lunch and morning/afternoon tea is provided.
• You are welcome to run on the Sunday as well. Assistance hauling our passengers would be appreciated.

In 2012, our Birthday weekend is on 12th / 13th / 14th October (with possibly some running on Thursday the 11th as well). Come along and enjoy yourself! Sorry: no public admission on the 11th, 12th or 13th - public running is Sunday 14th only.

Train Ops Day - We try to run 2 train operations days each year. AALS members are welcome to attend and be included in our timetabled or other activities. The next date we be added to this website when determined. Sorry - no public admission
